Entering the French National Veterinary Schools
The first two years are spent in a preparatory class, at university or in establishments preparing for technical degrees. The syllabus focuses on basic scientific topics: biology, physics and chemistry.
Basic education
The 4-year core curriculum of veterinary studies is open to students who passed the A,B,C or D competitive exams and leads to the Diploma of Fundamental Veterinary Studies (Master’s degree).
The Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine is awarded at the end of the fifth year of practical specialization.
The fourth « all clinical » year
The fifth year (semesters 13 and 14) consists in going deeper into a selected training path
Students having the degree in fundamental veterinary studies (DEFV) can select a path so as to prepare for a targeted professional activity
Training periods
During the first three years, students have to carry out external training periods for at least 14 weeks.
