Incoming students at Oniris

Oniris hosts a number of foreign students coming from Europe and overseas to study as exchange students or as interns. In the next 5 years we plan to welcome 25% of foreign students. Oniris provides an individualized counseling and follow up to the students at each step of their mobility (housing, residence permit, pedagogical counseling…) to make their stay beneficial and enjoyable.

Oniris in the French education system

Oniris is a Grande Ecole situated in the North-West of France, in the city of Nantes. It has acquired a reputation for excellence in both teaching and research, and has developed an international dimension for both veterinary and engineering programs for several years.

The French higher education system is divided in two categories: Universities and “Grandes Ecoles”.

The latter are accessible after two years of preparatory classes through a process of competitive exams. In order to be admitted at Oniris one has to take the veterinary medicine competitive exam (“A” ENV competitive exam) or the engineering one (“A” Bio competitive exam). The competitive exam program and admission procedure can be seen on the following website: www.scei-concours.fr.

The Grandes Ecoles focus mainly on the fields of engineering, management and life sciences. Their graduated students are in high demand from recruiters.

French Courses

To study at Oniris, an Intermediate level in French is recommended, indeed all the classes are, currently taught in French only.

In order to help our incomings students deepen their knowledge of the language, Oniris offers weekly classes of French. Any student can attend them once registered, at no extra cost.
