The SARAF training course is a continuous professional training programme offered at ONIRIS.
It takes place over a period of 2 weeks and is given in English.
The concept was created in 2001 by the management team of the LABERCA alongside members of the European network of laboratories in charge of analysing residues and contaminants in foodstuffs. The programme hinges on theoretical teaching and practical sessions.
The objective of the SARAF training course is to enable doctors, technicians, scientists and engineers with a good level of experience and knowledge in the domain of residue analysis to:
- improve their knowledge in analytical chemistry and more particularly in the methodology applied to the control of residues and contaminants in foodstuffs.
- gain training in the techniques of analysis involving the use of liquid or gas chromatography coupled to sophisticated detectors such as mass spectrometers.
- learn and to put into practice examples of efficient methods applied in the majority of European laboratories for the control of residues and contaminants in foodstuffs.
- learn to validate a method of analysis.
- perfect their knowledge of the legislation relative to the analysis of residues and contaminants in foodstuffs.
- better understand the quality management systems applied to the analyses and to the development of methods.
- create their own network in order to facilitate possible technical and scientific collaboration.
SARAF has already organized 17 sessions and around 250 participants from 75 countries have been trained. 5 sessions have been specifically designed for the European Commission (DG TRADE).
